Writing Process

Topic of the week: What I want to be when I grow up.

Monday- Pre-write
Tuesday- Draft
Wednesday- Revise
Thursday- Edit/ Publish
Friday- Final Draft due

Pre-writing includes brainstorming and organizing thoughts via an idea web or list.

Drafting is a very quick process in which students generate a rough draft based on their pre-write.

Revising is done during our writing center every Wednesday. Students exchange papers with their partner and their partner helps to make sure the essay makes sense and gives tips to improve his or her writing skills.

Editing is done individually by each student with a red pen. This is the last chance to fix any spelling/grammar mistakes prior to writing the final draft.

Publishing is the final step of the writing process in which students, using their edits and revisions, re-write their essay neatly. All 5 steps must be turned in on Friday to receive full credit.
